Dear Friends,

We are more than just a choir: we are a community with a shared passion for singing and the life-changing musical opportunities it can offer.

Since the first group of talented young singers came together to form the National Youth Choir back in 1983, thousands of young singers from an increasingly diverse range of backgrounds have grown and developed with us, many of whom have gone on to pursue their talent for singing at a professional level, form and lead choirs in their communities and bring joy to thousands more through their shared passion. Due to the current unprecedented international crisis, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel or postpone our Spring activities, for the first time in our long and prestigious history.

Though this will undoubtedly put a financial strain on the organisation, we are determined to come through this and ensure that we not only keep the nation singing in the future but also during this international crisis. To enable this, we are exploring creative ways we can engage with our young singers through digital activities, such as musicianship webinars, live feeds and virtual choir rehearsals and recordings. Whilst we are all too aware that countless musicians, many of them NYCGB alumni, are currently facing severe impending financial hardship, we ask you, our supporters, friends, customers and alumni who can help us in the longer term to donate to our Keep the Nation Singing appeal.

All donations will be gratefully received and will go directly towards supporting NYCGB through these difficult times and ensuring that as a wonderful community of choral enthusiasts we continue to discover and nurture our nation’s young voices in the years to come.

Thank you in advance for your kind support.
