National Youth Training Choir Present: 25th Anniversary Concert

A concert by the best choir of teenagers in the UK, the National Youth Training Choir presents a broad spectrum of music in celebration of its 25 years history. The National Youth Training Choir prides itself on taking an eclectic approach to choral music and pushing boundaries, whether through different languages, eras or performing styles. Challenging perceptions of what choral music can be, concert-goers can expect to enjoy a vast array of choral music in a celebration of cultural diversity.

Taking pride in connecting audiences with a new and varied repertoire, this ‘concert of encores’ draws together some of the favourite pieces performed by the choir since their formation in 1995. The programme will include recommendations by members past and present including South African freedom songs, Haitian ritual dances and South Asian Carnatic music, together with arrangements of Elton John’s Rocket Man and Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now.

I see our primary role in Training Choir to enlighten our members and concert goers to the huge expanse of choral music available to us now, and I hope people will come away from this concert feeling inspired, enlightened and full of hope.
