NYCGB Alumni

Welcome to the NYCGB Alumni community!

If you are a former member of any NYCGB Choir, then you still part of our NYCGB family! We’d love you to stay connected to our work and the ever-growing community of talented NYCGB graduates across the UK and abroad. Whether you’ve recently been a member or were involved back in the early years – you are very welcome.

We are so proud that our alumni have gone on to achieve such wonderful things. NYCGB alumni are graduates from across NYCGB’s 37-year history, including doctors, nurses, teachers, conductors, CEOs as well as professional singers from The Swingles, BBC Singers, The Sixteen, Tenebrae, Gabrieli Consort, Monteverdi Choir, Glyndebourne, Scottish Opera and Royal Opera House Choruses and come together from as far afield as America, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Germany.

Whatever your journey, we’d love each and every one of you to stay in touch.

There are a number of ways you can choose to get involved. To be part of our supportive online network, join our Alumni Facebook Group; come together to sing with other alumnus by taking part in concerts and events or be part of NYCGB’s future by getting involved in fundraising initiatives to support more young people to be part of its life-changing programmes.

You’ll receive all the latest news updates by signing up to our monthly alumni e-newsletter.

We long to see you!

We are so pleased to have reconnected with so many of you on our most recent project of recording Shenandoah during lockdown. The Alumni Committee is very busy behind the scenes planning some awesome events for the future, either virtually or hopefully in person. So please sign up to the newsletter so we can share these with you nearer the time.

Alumni Success - Naomi L’Estrange

Naomi L’Estrange (NYCGB 1987-2004, Alto 1 Section Leader and member of World Youth Choir 1994-5)

NYCGB Alumna Naomi took over as Managing Director of 20-20 Trustees in January 2019, having been a Director there for five years. The company work as Professional Trustees for pension schemes, helping make sure the funds are looked after and their members get paid the right benefits. Naomi got there via a law degree (and choral scholarship!) at Cambridge, a masters in European law in Brussels, ten years as a pension lawyer in the City, a secondment to Government designing powers to stop organisations from abandoning their pensioners; and then heading up the legal team at the Pension Protection Fund (which picks up the pieces where companies can’t, rather than won’t, keep those promises). Her company recently won two awards for Independent Trustee Firm of the Year.
Naomi is an active NYCGB Alumni member and enjoys keeping in touch with fellow alumni and singing at reunion concerts, most recently at St.George's Hall, Liverpool alongside fellow alumni and the National Youth Training Choir of Great Britain.
