Julian and Anna with their finishers' medals at the (extremely rainy) Severn Bridge Half Marathon.

NYCGB's former General Manager Anna George and current Marketing Manager Julian Forbes ran the Severn Bridge Half Marathon on 24 August, raising more than £700 for the NYCGB Alumni Champions Fund.

Anna and Julian were among more than 1,300 runners to take part in the 13 mile event, which starts at the midpoint of the old Severn motorway (M48) bridge and heads into England before recrossing the bridge and finishing near Chepstow in Wales. Last year's event enjoyed glorious sunshine; this year it rained throughout, and the finish area was in healthy full flow by the end (see photo).

Anna and Julian's fundraising efforts are the first appeals to be run by individual fundraisers on NYCGB's new website, and it is hoped that other Alumni will follow suit with their own fundraising activity. The Alumni Champions Fund has so far provided financial assistance to 17 current members of NYCGB, with individual awards ranging from £440 to £880.
