Bass-baritone David Ireland has joined mezzo Katie Coventry on English National Opera's prestigious young artist programme.

NYCGB Alumnus David is one of four new young singers selected for ENO's Harewood Artists Programme at the outset of the 2017-18 Season, joining eight existing artists including NYCGB Alumna Katie Coventry.

All ENO Harewood Artists receive extensive coaching and tuition from leading artists and teachers, and opportunities to cover (understudy) and perform roles as part of season productions.

David will be launching straight into preparations to cover the role of Dr Bartolo in Rossini's 'The Barber of Seville', which opens on 5 October.

Following her main stage debut as Edith in Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The Pirates of Penzance' in February, Katie is covering the title role in the world premiere production of 'Marnie', the second opera by American composer Nico Muhly, which opens on 18 November.

Booking for both productions is open now.
