Chief Executive (Full Time)

February 2017

The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain (NYCGB) are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual with a dedication to the Arts and young people as our Chief Executive.

This is a new position and the appointee will work closely with the Artistic Director Ben Parry, who will retain responsibility for purely artistic matters. The Chief Executive will be accountable to the Board of Trustees with overall responsibility for strategic and organisational matters and, specifically, lead on development and fundraising and overall financial management. S/he will be supported by a committed team of professional staff with expertise in operations, marketing and communications, and development.

NYCGB’s mission is to discover and foster exceptional musical talent, to provide inspirational teaching and guidance, to extend musical opportunities to young people from all communities and backgrounds, and to thrill audiences with passionate and innovative music-making. NYCGB now comprises five principal choirs, with a membership of approximately 800 young people aged 9 to 25, and performs in leading venues nationwide.

NYCGB is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee with a current turnover of around £1.5M and 13 permanent staff (not all on full time contracts) and up to 70 musical and pastoral staff employed on residential courses and for individual performances each year. NYCGB is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.

This will be a full-time appointment (hours of work can be flexible) with a salary in the range of £60-70K. NYCGB’s offices are based in Durham, although the Chief Executive is expected to travel widely in the UK to meet partners and funders.
