NYCGB Announces New Head of Artistic Planning and Participation

The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain (NYCGB) - the UK’s leading organisation for youth choral music – is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruth Evans as Head of Artistic Planning and Participation.

Over the last 5 years, NYCGB has grown and developed as an organisation, expanding the breadth of its artistic programmes and partnerships, and developing a new core strand of Learning and Engagement activity.

As Head of Artistic Planning & Participation, Ruth joins NYCGB in this exciting new role, created to support the achievement of NYCGB’s future ambitions including the creation of a bold and ambitious artistic vision for NYCGB and new, exciting and innovative artistic opportunities, growing the reach and impact of its engagement and learning programmes.

Ruth joins as a senior member of the artistic and management teams, and is based at NYCGB’s head office in Durham. She joins the organisation from Glyndebourne Opera House in Sussex, where she was formerly Senior Education Projects Manager. Ruth has also worked at Welsh National Opera as Producer (Youth & Community) and Ensemble Cymru. Originally from North Wales, she is an NYCGB alumna and studied at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University (with a choral scholarship) then gained a Masters in Music from Bangor University. In addition to arts management Ruth is a choral conductor and part of the tutor team at Sing for Pleasure, CȃnSing and Morland Choristers’ Camp.

I am incredibly excited to be joining the NYCGB team in this dynamic new role of Head of Artistic Planning & Participation. In particular working with remarkable young singers from across the length and breadth of the UK, supporting colleagues to deliver NYCGB’s high-quality artistic vision and develop the ambitious Learning and Engagement programme.
