ABRSM have revealed their new Singing Syllabus, which candidates will be able to present at examination from 1 January 2018.

For those who are already working from the old (2009) list, there is an official overlap period during which both lists will be accepted at examination. Full information is available from ABRSM here.

ABRSM say that the 2018 syllabus offers a wider range of choice across all grades, with new songs especially written for younger voices, and expanded choices from Musical Theatre repertoire. And there are changes to the accompanied song requirements for higher grades (6-8)

New resources released to support the syllabus include an app that will allow singers to download and playback a range of piano accompaniments in their choice of key and tempo.

To celebrate the new syllabus launch, ABRSM invited NYCGB Artistic Director Ben Parry to create a medley, which was recorded by the National Youth Training Choir on its Summer residential course. Click below to have a listen!
