Nicholas Sears is currently Head of Vocal Studies at the Royal College of Music.

Trained at Trinity College, Cambridge and subsequently at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Nicholas performed principal roles with WNO, Opera North, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Garsington Festival, English Touring Opera and internationally, in Barcelona, Bilbao, Lisbon, Antwerp, Porto, Salamanca, Vienna, Berlin, Lausanne and Braunschweig.  He performed recitals at the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and Aldeburgh Festivals, joined the Songmakers’ Almanac and performed as a concert soloist at the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Santa Cecilia in Rome, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels and in South America.  His recordings include Handel’s Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno with Rinaldo Alessandrini and Concerto Italiano. 

Nicholas ceased singing in 2002 having decided to pursue a career in vocal artist management, working for Intermusica as an Artist Manager whilst taking up a post as Senior Lecturer in Vocal Studies at the RNCM.  He has been a jury member of both national and international singing competitions and has given masterclasses in the USA, Moscow and Singapore.

Nicholas Sears joined NYCGB's Board of Trustees in 2014.
