Login or create a My NYCGB account (you can create an account prior to the booking opening)

Have a recent head and shoulders photograph of the candidate ready to upload – this should be in digital format (JPEG or TIFF)


TIPS – MY NYCGB ACCOUNT

If you have previously been a member of NYCGB, but are not a current National Youth Choir member, please login into your current ‘My NYCGB’ account to book your audition slot. You can do that by clicking here or clicking on the ‘My NYCGB’ purple box at the top right-hand corner of this page. 

If you are a new candidate, you'll need to create an account. You can do this by clicking ‘register’ and following the instructions on screen.

If you are under 18 at the time of the audition, your parent/guardian will need to create the ‘My NYCGB’ account by ticking ‘candidate under 18’

If you have forgotten your password, you can click on forgotten password to re-set it. This will send you an email to your registered email account. Please follow the instructions in the email and log back on. 

You can book an audition slot through your ‘My NYCGB’ account, choosing from a range of date and time slots.

Audition slots are on a first come, first served basis. If you have difficulty in finding a slot to suit your needs, please contact: [email protected] 


STEP 2 – BOOK AN AUDITION

Log on to your ‘My NYCGB’ account by clicking here or clicking on the ‘My NYCGB’ purple box at the top right-hand corner of this page. 

Once logged in, click on the Auditions section on the left-hand side. 

Select the audition slot you would like. Only available time slots will be visible. 

Please complete all the required information to complete your booking.

We’re able to offer a reduced audition fee of £20 this year. Financial assistance is available towards the cost, for more information click here. To access this support, tick the box when booking your audition, and complete the simple online form.

You will receive a confirmation email for your audition booking. Please check your junk email if you have not received this.  

INFORMATION FOR CURRENT NYCGB MEMBERS

All current Training Choir members who are eligible and wish to move up into the National Youth Choir are required to book an external audition. Auditions are NOT available for Training Choir members on summer residential courses. 

Current National Youth Choir members do not need to book an external audition, as auditions WILL take place on the NYC summer residential project.


STEP 3 – PREPARE

Once you've booked an audition, it's time to make sure you (the candidate) are as prepared as possible. Head over to our 'How to Prepare' page to find out more information.


STEP 4 – AUDITION

We want to assess your current ability, and we are also looking to see your potential, readiness to learn and enthusiasm. We want all singers to do their best and be their best! 

Please warm-up before your audition and have a glass of water and your sheet music to hand.  


ZOOM INFO

You will receive a ‘Zoom’ invitation via the registered email address on the ‘My NYCGB’ account. This will include a link to log onto Zoom, the meeting ID and password.

Candidates under 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

Please log onto Zoom 15 minutes prior to your audition slot, where you will be entered into the waiting room.   

The administrator will grant you access into the zoom session at your allocated time and will help you check your visual/audio set-up.

Once you have completed your audition, you can click on the ‘leave meeting’ button on the bottom right hand side of the screen. 

Your audition will last around 15 minutes in total. 

Ben Parry, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the National Youth Choir, will be the Head Panellist at all National Youth Choir auditions, together with a second panellist who is either one of our singing teachers or another conductor. They'll lead you through the audition so you'll always know what to do next. The panellists want you to feel confident and at ease, and they will always be polite and friendly to you. 


STEP FIVE – RESULTS

We email results once all auditions have taken place. If successful, you'll be asked to accept your place in the National Youth Choir. We will also send you instructions about how to accept your place and, if you're new to NYCGB, pay your one-off Membership Fee of £90.
