What's on News NYCGB 2019/20 Fellows Revealed 3 October 2019 NYCGB 2019/20 Fellows Revealed We are proud to reveal the eight young musicians selected to join the NYCGB 2019-20 Fellowship Programme: James Botcher (Tenor 1) from East Sussex Eleanor Bray (Soprano 1) from Surrey Freddie Crowley (Bass 2) from Devon Loren Kell (Soprano 2) from Wales Laurence Padfield (Bass 1) from London Ella Rainbird-Earley (Alto 1) from Coventry Milette Riis (Alto 2) from Leeds David Woods (Tenor 2) from Harrogate Launched in 2015 the NYCGB Fellowship Programme is a unique training scheme for aspiring choral musicians which develops solo and ensemble performance technique, leadership experience, and professional skills and networks. Each year, eight outstanding candidates aged 18-25 are selected from open auditions to join the programme. Now in its fifth year, the eight new fellows were selected following auditions in June 2019. They will gain excellent opportunities through the scheme through a wide and varied programme of performance, tuition and mentoring as well as working alongside the NYCGB team to learn about and deliver workshops and activities to young singers in educational and community settings across the UK. They will also lead the National Youth Choir of Great Britain in performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and have the prestigious honour of representing Great Britain at the World Symposium on Choral Music (WSCM 2020) in Auckland, New Zealand from the 15 – 18 July 2020, alongside the National Youth Choir. NYCGB 2019/20 Fellow Milette Riis said: The NYCGB Fellowship Programme will not only enable me to advance as a performer, but also to improve as a leader and conductor. It’s a fantastic opportunity to develop the skills necessary for a musical career. NYCGB 2019/20 Fellow David Woods said: As a music educator, I am passionate about music outreach and providing singing opportunities to as many people as possible. I am most excited about developing my leadership skills and pursuing this goal further with the NYCGB Fellowship this year. NYCGB Artistic Director & Principal Conductor Ben Parry said: We’re excited to announce our 2019/20 fellows - an extremely talented and passionate group of young singers who we are delighted to welcome onto our fifth fellowship programme. The scheme presents a unique opportunity for them to develop their skills and experience and we look forward to supporting them in this exciting new phase of their development.
