Richard Elder is Director of Rosehill Theatre in West Cumbria.

Previous work has been with Metal Box plc, English National Opera (ENO) and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) amongst a number of freelance engagements. At Metal Box he was responsible for the Personnel Management and Industrial Relations of the London factories of General Line Group where he took part in the introduction of new employment and social legislation and in the restructuring of working arrangements at factory floor level.

At ENO, where he was Director of Administration, he was responsible for the personnel management and employee relations of the company. In addition, he was a director responsible for the operations and running of the London Coliseum as ENO’s home; he took part in a major political tour to Russia performing in the Bolshoi (Moscow), Mariinsky (St Petersburg) and in Kiev; he was the producer of major international dance seasons at the London Coliseum while the opera company was on holiday and led on significant change in employment arrangements.

At RADA where he was Executive Director, he assisted in the transition of its administrative and managerial affairs from Further to Higher Education and in securing a substantial Arts Council Stabilisation Grant.
