CLICK TO WATCH: Getting Nottinghamshire schools singing

NYCGB isn't just for members.

As a National Youth Music Organisation we see it as our duty to get young people singing wherever possible, especially in schools. We also love working with teachers, helping them to become more confident singing leaders.

One-off workshops

Our 'Ready Steady Sing!' workshops are action-packed singing sessions designed for Primary School and Primary-Secondary transition groups. Taught entirely by ear with brilliant music including our signature 'mash-ups', they're guaranteed to get children of all levels of experience singing their socks off! You can add a linked teacher skills session at no extra cost, and we also offer 'Get Singing' participant tote bags with resources from NYCGB and ABRSM.

Strategic partnerships

Since 2013 we've been working in partnership in regions where national statistics and our membership numbers indicate that there's a gap in singing provision. Teaming up with a strong local organisation, usually one of Arts Council England's Music Hubs, we deliver a three-year programme of activities and events for young people, and often supply professional training for teachers and leaders as well. Our aim is to get more young people singing and discovering and sharing their musical gifts, and to encourage the most talented to develop their talent and passion further. We make sure that NYCGB has an enhanced local presence for the duration of the partnership, holding audition days, residential courses and concerts in the area.

Following successful partnerships in Cornwall and West Cumbria we're now actively engaged in Nottinghamshire, and investigating further new partnerships around the UK.
